Giraffe Rescue
A giraffe was spotted with a tyre stuck around its neck at the haller park and the vet team was immediately notified to come rescue the giraffe. cc
We can only imagine that it may have been feeding on some grass and the discarded tyre got stuck around its neck.
After 3 hours of walking through the bushes and swampy areas, the giraffe was finally spotted and darted, however it picked the most difficult spot to fall asleep on, a slope. The team had to work quickly to remove the tyre, and quickly revive it for its own safety. cc
However during treatment, the giraffe which weighs almost a ton, moved and rolled down the slope almost falling on top of the vet and the team.
It just goes to show that being a wildlife medic is not an easy job and they always place themselves at risk for the treatment of wildlife.
When the giraffe settled at the bottom of the slope, the team quickly administered antibiotics and the giraffe was quickly helped up and safely went on its way.
